The Little Navy Dress, LND as it shall be known from now on, is set to replace the LBD this season (not forever!!). Navy is a much more refined and stylish colour, endorsed by the likes of Maggie Gyllenhall (always looking gorgeous), Helena Christensen and Jennifer Connelly. It’s a perfect smart and sophisticated look for the office but can also be glammed up for a night out. So here are a selection of the LNDs that are out there, from designer to high street.
First up is the most expensive with the RM by Roland Mouret Mistral wool-blend dress available at NET-A-PORTER for £1,335. It’s a long sleeve, stretch wool blend with pleats at the waist and neckline to create an effortlessly chic and stylish dress that needs very little accessorising.
Next is a slinky little number by Fenn Wright Manson at John Lewis for £139. It’s a soft jersey dress with a v-neck that’s finished off with a slouchy bow. The elegance of this dress is in the sleeve length that comes midway between the shoulder and elbow, and the length of the dress falls just below the knee.
Next is a structured pleated dress from Oasis for £70. The pleats on the waist create a pinched in waist, and the pleats on the one shoulder add an extra dimension. The sleeves stop just above the elbow which again makes it perfect for an elegant work dress.
And finally a simple and sophisticated scoop neck dress from the Autograph Essentials collection from Marks & Spencer for £49.50. It has a ribbed band detail at the waist and stitch detailing to give it shape, and the sleeves stop just before the elbow.
Simple accessories are all that are required for all these dresses that look fabulous with opaque tights or barely there tights, depending on the shoes you choose. Red, yellow and gold or silver look great with navy, but this seasons trend is to team it with black, oh yes, it can be done
