Sweater Weather

If you think of our lives as a movie, the ongoing scene would have our heads tucked in high collars/scarves, hands fidgeting in pockets, sipping hot drinks, trees sleeping, leaves falling, wind blowing on crispy mornings and us starring in all these scenes, almost always in SWEATERS!

While the blazers and coats will keep making appearances, the chunky knits will always be running the show. Oversized, cable-knits, metallic, roll-necks, one of these kinds are sure to be found in every single girl's closet! While the easiest way to wear this comfortable piece is with your distressed denims and sneakers, you could always style them with a bit of twist and make a statement.

I wore this mustard knit sweater recently to brunch with friends. Pairing it with with my favourite blue denims was my first choice due to a lazy cold morning but I switched to wearing a skirt later. The outfit shouts chill on the top and sexy on the bottom. I opted for color blocking and adding some interest with prints and textures of shades of base colors namely beige and black. The sweater is a recent purchase but I have practically been living in it, it's comfortable, soft, warm and cozy. And not to mention, the color is pure love!

Do tell me how you are wearing your knits!

Art of Trench

DSC_1581 DSC_1564 DSC_1556 DSC_1559 DSC_1570 DSC_1597 DSC_1593
{Trench Coat/Shoes/Necklace - Forever 21, Bag - Aldo, Watch - Michael Kors, Sunglasses - Vincent Chase}

A classic cover-up which has withstood the test of time and spells sophistication with an urban vibe could be a summarised definition of a trench coat. In my opinion, it is the best fashion invention, a wonder garment in its own really. The timeless appeal of it's silhouette and the ease of pairing it with almost anything and everything in your wardrobe is what makes it sort of an unsung hero of classic styling.

It doesn't really matter what you wear underneath because the trench coat does all the talking and makes that great first impression. I personally own at least 7 different styles of this staple coat in different lengths and colors. With the weather and it's inconsistencies, sometime warm, cold, windy, rainy and sometimes all in one day, we are all left with the puzzling question: what to wear? And more often than not, my answer lies in the little section of my wardrobe where all these trenchs have taken up residence in.

I styled my most classic trench coat in a recent post in collaboration with ASUS. While styling a trench coat, you don't need to go by any rule book really. It's all about belting if you want a sophisticated look or you can wear it undone or tied artistically behind your back for a more relaxed urban look. The lengths can be a bit tricky though as in what you pair it with. A knee length trench coat is ideal for almost anything while a shorter length would be paired best with denims or shorter skirts/dresses. But no matter the length, always let the trench be the focus of your outfit, unless you plan to take it off once you reach your destination.

Here, I styled this olive trench coat in all it's glory and let it be the only focus of the look. This is just an example of how a trench can easily be styled as an outfit itself (told you it's a wonder garment, didn't I?). This look could be just as perfect for business meetings as it would be for brunch or shopping. The versatility of this garment is multifold and I would make that more clear in upcoming posts where I will style it in multiple ways as the weather gets colder.

Stay tuned!

Fall Fashion and Hats

{Denims/Jacket/Rings - Forever 21, Crop Top - H&M, Hat - Zara, Shoes - Aldo, Bag - StalkBuyLove, Watch - Michael Kors, Sunglasses - The Black Box}

Can we just hurray in excitement for a whole minute! My most beloved season is here in full form and I couldn't be more excited. Fall season is my favourite not only because it is the perfect temperature, neither too hot nor too cold, but also because it brings along limitless possibilities of layering, accessorising and styling. Although I am aware that Winter will surpass this temperature in a matter of weeks or probably even days but I am going to be making the most of this time however little of it I am allowed.

This outfit is my first tribute to this season, where I have incorporated the core trends for fall. Plaid is having a moment on the runways and I brought it down to the streets with this light woolen cape jacket. It was a gem found buried deep in the treasure hunt we all go through as we step into Forever 21. The denims and the bag are the results of a little DIY makeover project that we did on a whim while chilling on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We always find ourselves pointing out the little changes that could have made a garment or an accessory much more stylish and one day we had enough of the could haves and should haves and we took the matter in our hands. Or should I say, took the scissors in our hands! We snipped away the arm handles of the bag first which made it more street chic and then moved onto making those slits in the denims. It was hard not to go overboard as I kept insisting for a few more slashes but then felt this was just the right amount of skin peeking through.

With high waist denims, the most obvious choice is a crop top and that's what I went for. Yes, the nip in the air is more prominent but we don't have to let go of our crop tops just yet! With the right amount of layering, crop tops can easily work their way into our Fall wardrobes. Why don't you all show me your way of wearing crop tops in this weather! Share your styled outfits with me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Snapchat...I would love to see what you guys come up with! There is a stylist hidden in each one of you, dig deep and explore the possibilities!

Dhoti Pants & Crop Top

IMG_1611 copy IMG_1621 copy copy IMG_1633 copy copy IMG_1645 copy IMG_1637 copy
{Outfit - Mrignain by Mandeep Rekhi, Jewellery - Indiatrend, Belt - Forever New, Sunglasses - Aldo, Shoes - Zara}

And I am back yet again with an Indianwear attire!

With my body type, I feel high-waisted dhoti pants with crop top looks really flattering. I have an hour-glass figure which means I have a somewhat tiny waist(yay) so this outfit flaunts exactly that making me look even more slimmer than I am. The trick to wear crop tops flawlessly is to show just a sliver of skin and not more 1 or at max 2 inches. Unless you have the Shilpa Shetty body, any more than 2 inches and you can easily tip over to the slightly vulgar side. Keep it safe and classy but if you really wanna be a lil risqué, all power to you!

This silhouette can be worn by girls with any body shape, even if you have a pear shaped body, rectangular or an apple shaped body, it kind of neutralises the silhouette by creating an illusion of slimmer waist and fuller bust and hips. This outfit would be perfect for a garden diwali party or an outdoor mehendi and sangeet function. Keeping that in mind, I kept the jewellery minimal for a fresh and young vibe. What are your thoughts about this look, do let me know in the comments section below!

United Colors of Benetton X Style Fashion Etc

{T-shirt/Skirt/Bag - United Colors of Benetton, Shoes - Aldo, Necklace - Forever 21, Sunglasses - Style Fiesta, Watch - Michael Kors}

Being a member of PopXo Blog Network has it's perks! This time around, I got the opportunity to review United Colors of Benetton's A/W'15 collection. I have always viewed United Colors of Benetton as one of the best brand's for basic wardrobe needs but after going through the whole collection they have to offer, I must admit, they are so much more than just basics. Along with a vast color range, they also have various silhouettes to offer. You are bound to find something for your sartorial needs. I found myself picking up a dozen of styles to try and spent almost an hour mixing and matching prints and trying out something out of the box. I finally settled on this voluminous skirt and loose t-shirt. It is often said that you should balance out a voluminous skirt with fitted top or pair a loose oversized t-shirt with skinny pants/denims. But who's to stop me if I decide to break and bend the rules a bit?

I styled this super comfy and relaxed outfit keeping in mind the vibe of the brand. It's fun, it's preppy and it's cute and I had a ball shooting this outfit! I was jumping around the whole time and there are like a ton of candid pictures where I am a blur and all you can see is the beautiful fun myriad of colors that is UCB as a brand. For girls with a hint of tomboy attitude would absolutely love this outfit and so would the girls who love dressing up in girly outfits. This look would be perfect for a day out with the girls or a fun lunch date with your guy. It's amazing how wearing bright preppy colors can help bring out the fun side of you and make you instantly happy!

Printed Separates

IMG_1783 copy IMG_1776 copy copy IMG_1777 copy copy IMG_1805 copy copy IMG_1801 copy copy IMG_1793 copy copy
{Coordinates - Koovs, Bag/Watch - Michael Kors, Scarf - Love Moschino, Earrings/Rings - Forever 21, Sunglasses - Aldo, Shoes - Marks & Spencer}

As a kid, I remember my mom dressing me up in matching co-ordinates and looking back at those pictures in my teenage years, I swore I would never dress up in such dorky outfits ever. But the fate had something else in mind and co-ordinates are back and how! Every store, be it physical or online, is stacking them in solid colors, prints, various silhouettes and what not. And I am myself now smitten with this trend and now own a whole range of matching co-ordinates of crop tops, pants, skirts, jackets and I still want more!

Matching separates is one of the hottest trends of the season. Co-ordinating your whole outfit in tailored separates or casual cropped outfits is the easiest way to sharpen your work attire or liven up your street styling. You can mould the trend to suit your taste and comfort level by either restricting yourself to solid colors or going all out with matching prints like stripes, floral and in my case here, nautical print. You can play with proportions by choosing a crop top with high-waisted bottoms or boxy jackets with pants. I like this trend mostly in crop tops and high waist skirts. It tends to create an illusion of slimmer waist by flaunting the slimmest part of your torso and by showing just a sliver of skin, it keeps the look classy too. Without flashing too much flesh, you can be on-trend and sexy!

It is also the most viable option for holidays! You can wear it as a whole outfit or mix and match the separates to create a whole new range of looks! Having 2-3 such coordinates will let you experiment with your outfits and by just swapping between your coordinates also you can get numerous options! So, go on and try this trend and do share the looks with me on my Facebook, Instagram or Twitter!

Sports Luxe

{Jogger Pants/Necklace - Forever 21, Crop Top - Stalk Buy Love, Bag - Da Milano, Sunglasses - Aldo, Ring - Chic Accessorizer, Shoes - Intoto}

Always being a plump girl till a few months back, I ran away from this trend as I felt it made me look even more fat. I am all for being proud of your body and flaunting it no matter the size, I also feel you should dress according to your body type and what suits YOUR body. Crop tops, for example, never looked good on me before. Now that I have lost few kilos, it looks very flattering and I am so glad I got to wear crop tops this summer. I remember, I wanted to wear these so bad last year but no matter how I wore it, it just didn't look flattering!

Today, we are going to be talking about the Sports Luxe trend. Much has been said about it already and few of my fellow bloggers have done exceptionally well flaunting this trend. This is just my take on the same. So, what is sports luxe? Well, to begin with, this trend is mostly about wearing pieces from your gym/workout/sports wardrobe in a glamorous way. Basically, incorporating these pieces into your daily lifestyle or maybe even for parties if you are daring enough, turning them into the ultimate versatile pieces or secret weapons in your closet for those days of crisis! You just need to be innovative enough. And add enough bling.

It could be luxe joggers like I am wearing here, or an embellished bomber, or a printed sweatshirt. You can work around one of such pieces and create a look that is casual, comfy and cozy. Remember, always add a glamorous piece to the whole look and if you dare enough, some bling too. These sportswear inspired outfits are hardly meant for the gym so don't shy away from accessorizing. Now, go look into your closet, dig out your sportswear and then get to mixing and matching!

Winters to Summers

{Dress/Trenchcoat/ Scarf/ Heart Necklace/ Amore Necklace - Forever 21, Love Necklace - Accessorize, Shoes - Aldo, Bag/ Watch - Michael Kors}

It's funny how the weather jumps from one season to another these days. There are no in-betweens. One day I am wearing a heavy jacket and next day even a thin cardigan feels like an eskimo outfit! I was looking forward to Fall in September but it never came, we directly got Winters. And by the looks of it, we won't be getting much of Spring either. Such a bummer.
But does that mean, I won't be wearing Spring outfits? I don't think so! I love light layers and I am not ready to start wearing Summer dresses yet. So, yeah...I am in Spring mode, whether the weather likes it or not.

This dress has got a deep cut back and the moment you put it on, you can't help but feel sexy. Instead of saving it for Summer lunch dates, I paired it with a lightweight trench and added a scarf in similar hue. The layering of necklaces happened on it's own. I wore long chains as they give an illusion of long torso and the small chain was a last minute addition as the neckline looked kinda lonely. I liked how it turned out though and call it a co-incidence, it happened on the first day of Valentine's week. The red dress along with Love themed necklaces turned out to be an ideal laid back Valentine's day outfit.

And if you haven't noticed yet, let me bring your attention towards the sexy beast I am carrying on my arms. I have wanted this Michael Kors bag for so long! When I went to purchase it during my Birthday, the store had Sale going on and this one was nowhere to be seen. I didn't like anything on sale so I decided I would rather wait and get something I really like instead of getting a good deal on an average bag. I was confused between a tote style bag and this one as I wanted something for daily use but the structured look has always been my favorite and hence, I decided to get this design. Then, I got confused whether to get black or tan as I recently got another exact same tan color crossbody bag from Michael Kors only. But after pondering over this dilemma for several hours (not kidding), I decided on this one as it goes with every outfit and almost every color. It's perfect for Summers as well as Winters while black would have been not so apt for Summers. Anyways, point is, I love this bag!!!! The insides are just as gorgeous as the outside, equipped with one zip pouch, four pockets and a key strap! In case, you have been wanting to purchase this bag, I would give it a heads up. Go for it, one of the most gorgeous bags in the market!

Classic Summer Look for Men

{T-shirt - Forca, Jeans - Levis, Shoes - Forever 21, Bracelets - Aldo}

The weather has been acting up really bad for a past couple of days in Delhi. It rains one day and then it is terribly hot and humid. From fashion perspective, it is really confusing what to wear because it may just start to drizzle any time of the day. For men, I feel the classic combination of denims and white t-shirt is the best way to go for a relaxed and cool look.

Aman pulled this look together one day for going out for some shopping and to the movies and I knew I had to share it on the blog. It is a very guy-next-door kinda look, easy to pull together for absolutely ANY guy. Who doesn't have a pair of favorite blue denims and a simple white t-shirt! I really liked it that Aman played it up in the footwear department by wearing a monochrome patterned espadrille along with the layered bracelets. The whole outfit is quite muted when it comes to color palette but the patterned shoes and the bracelets add character to the whole outfit. Definitely the perfect Summer outfit!

Summertime Madness

{Silk Shorts - Zara, Shirt - Local Boutique, Bag/Shoes - Aldo, Necklace - Splash, Ring/Earcuffs - Forever 21}

The heat has taken over almost all the aspects of life. It's what we talk about, shop about and care about. The weekend was spent hunting for the perfect sunscreen for face and a lip balm with highest spf available. Light airy clothes are flying off the racks in stores. The AC is almost never off and when it is off, we are frantically calling electricians to come see what's wrong! I think you get the point, right? It's madness!

In such times, I switch to lightweight fabrics that allows my skin to breathe. The silk shorts have replaced the denim shorts and how! Cute prints and airy fabric makes for a perfect bottomwear in Summers. They can be paired with a simple block color t-shirt or a shirt and makes for a perfect outfit for going out to movies, lunch date with friends or just some casual shopping. But if you want to turn up the style-o-meter, pair these with a complementing print shirt, sky-high heels and add a statement necklace. Some clever detailings here and there and you are ready to rock the party.

I kept the look classy and simple as I was going for a meeting. You can hardly ever go wrong with a classic white shirt and they are always business appropriate. Kept the rest of the look simple with pulled back hair, a simple long necklace, bag and shoes in subtle hues and fuschia lipstick to add a punch of color. The structured bag adds sharpness to the whole attire. I am mostly impressed by the multiple wearability of this outfit, I can wear this to a brunch, a meeting, shopping or any other daytime event. And be comfortable while doing it all!

Striped Maxi Skirt

{Maxi/T-shirt/Midi Rings - Forever 21, Waistcoat - Zara, Necklace - Koovs, Bracelet - Aldo, Clutch/Knuckle Ring - H&M, Shoes - Steve Madden}

You might notice in this and the previous post that my hair color is gone. Well, it's not. These are just few photoshoots we did long before I got my hair colored but didn't find time to post them. This was actually one of the looks featured in Cosmopolitan's March Issue. My obsession with maxi was at it's peak then and I was busy collecting all colors, prints and fabric I could. And I am glad that I did so because now that the temperature is hitting 44 degrees, I can be all comfortable in my flowy georgette maxis. Just need to tone the tummy a bit more so the crop tops can find a way into my wardrobe!

xoxo,
Stay chic!

Change is inevitable. Change is constant.

{T-shirt/Necklaces/Rings - Forever 21, Leggings/Blazer - Zara, Bag - Accessorize, Shoes - Aldo}

I have never been into sporty clothing, not because I don't like the style but I think it just doesn't suit me. I have tried pullovers but I always end up with a cardigan or a blazer. I have tried shoes but I again somehow end up buying bellies or heels. But life is about taking risks and trying something new, right? So, I began the year loaded with 5 pair of shoes including wedge sneakers, cutout oxfords and high-top sneakers. And I am determined to make them work and I think I am getting the hang of them pretty nicely. I love my cutout oxfords the most which I will show you guys very soon, probably in my next outfit post.

Shoes are undeniably the most comfortable footwear for long hours and my work demands me on my toes most of the time running around supervising and multi-tasking. I had to switch from my pretty bellies to something more comfortable but does comfort always means Crocs? My answer was a firm No. I was not going to give in and my patience bore sweet fruits in the form of pretty oxfords and sneakers. I rarely reach out for my bellies or strappy sandals anymore.

Now, my personal style has witnessed what I would like to call a revolutionary change. I have started fusing sporty looks with more chic edge. Quite frankly, it does take a little time to figure out what to pair with these shoes as I don't have a lot of clothing items to go with them but with time, I am learning how to incorporate them in my current style and be at ease. A fresh change and I am quite liking it!

Back-to-School/College Outfit [Aztec Print Skirt with Denim Shirt]

This outfit was shot over a month ago but somehow I kept forgetting to put it up on the blog. I think it has to do something with my growing love for maxi dresses and non-ending downpour of rain.Anyways, I styled this outfit keeping in mind the "Back-to-school" theme as the Summer Vacation had just ended and all the Schools and Colleges were commencing the new session. This outfit is casual, cute and non-fussy, perfect for college. The hem length can be played with to suit your requirements obviously.

And yes, I am one of the victims of the moustache epidemic that took the world in a stride.
