Rain on my Parade

The season has all of us in knots when it comes to fashion. What to wear, how to style your hair, what all to avoid, what makeup will stay put, etc etc are quintessentially everything that you can think of if you have to step out in this weather. I am no exception when it comes to monsoon and to put it in simpler words, probably like every other fashion girl, I hate it. It's not just a challenge to dress up, you basically have to give up on heels and anything below knees just doesn't makes sense.

I styled this outfit which I loved and as soon as it was time to step out...you guessed it right, it started raining. I ended up switching to ankle length denims and washable canvas shoes instead of palazzos and heels but not before I snagged few memories of this outfit. The shirt coverup is one of the trends that has been doing rounds in the fashion world lately. I personally love this trend and it's perfect for slightly chilly evenings that we have been getting after the rain wears off.

This outfit minus the palazzo pants and heels turned out to be perfect for a rainy day out. The low bun kept my hair from getting all over the place, the sling bag kept my hands free for holding on to my dear life, urm I mean, umbrella and the shirt kept me warm enough in the breezy weather. I think it's time to invest in few more longline shirts!

Street Style: Maxi Dress

I was just wondering that the colleges are going to be re-opening soon enough and these street style outfits would be perfect for your first day of college, or even second day or hey, rest of the week too! While styling these street style outfits, I always keep in mind that I am choosing these outfits for the streets of India and not New York. They have to be conservative as well as daring enough for the Indian streets coz hey, you can't really wear short shorts paired with crop tops and roam around in the streets without being ogled upon. If you can, all the more power to you, but I prefer to stay stylish AND safe. I mean, wear what you want, but know what to wear where. You can wear a super short dress to your best friend's bash without giving it a second thought but the same outfit out in the streets might just get you in trouble.

Anyways, the street rules somewhat applies in college too. You can't wear shorts in college but a crop top baring just a sliver of skin is a-okay! So basically, these street style outfits can double up as inspirations for your college outfits too. The mantra is easy chic.

This maxi is my personal favourite, black and white you see. You can add as much color you want to style this outfit. I styled it in a very easy and understated way by adding a hit of peach lipshade, some colourful earrings from H&M and a colourful scarf tied on my sling bag. That's all the color this outfit needs. I kept my cuff and ring in the same tone and also I kept my shoes white and in block heels so that it's easier to walk around while still looking chic.

White on white

{Denims - Lee Jeans, Shirt - Ann Taylor, Trenchcoat/Necklace - Forever 21, Shoes - U.S., Clutch - Dorothy Perkins, Sunglasses - Paperlilie, Watch - Michael Kors}

After doing one denim on denim post, I decided to opt for a similar route and shoot one white on white outfit. I have always stayed away from this trend as I felt I could never pull it off even though I really wanted to wear it. So, I chose an offbeat route and using different shades of white and nudes, I created this easy breezy look which is just as easy to carry as it looks. The different textures create a casual silhouette and the soft fabric of the shirt balances out the acid wash fitted denims. The trench coat is like my safety net in case white on white feels too overwhelming :P

These denims from Lee Jeans is perfect for people like me who are afraid of wearing white as it leans towards an off-white tone with some grey textured effect. They fit like a glove and looked even more flattering than a regular blue denims does! How are you wearing this trend during summers? Post a picture on Instagram and tag me, I would love to check out more styling ideas!

Designer Diggs | Grecian Maxi by Supriya Gupta

{Maxi Dress - Supriya Gupta, Cuff - H&M, Shoes/Midi Rings - Forever 21, Sunglasses - Paperlillie}

Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the brightest of them all!

In Summers, the few keywords almost every fashionista swears by are Maxi dresses, whites, brights and golds. Now, you can imagine my delight over this particular maxi dress. It's a summer dream come true! Packed with a beautiful gold neckline, punch of fuschia and beautiful Grecian drapes makes this attire just as perfect for a cocktail night as it would a romantic dinner date. The attention to details like the little quilled circular touch to the waist belt or the draped hem making up for the absence of slits while adding a graceful design element vouches for the viability of the dress.

I chose to keep the maxi as the focus of the whole attire and kept accessories to the minimum by adding a gold cuff and few midi rings. The shoes had to be nude as I didn't wanted any other color fighting for attention in this look. And the sunglasses had gold accents because why the hell not! This outfit is probably my personal favorite so far, it's glamorous, it's bright and it will for sure turn heads. As they say, 'Go bright or go home!'. This maxi is truly a prized possession and for the price, it's a steal! The collection comes out soon, so make sure you grab one before they sell out.
