French Connection Menswear Collection Review

It's that time of the year again when you have to loosen your pockets and go shopping for the new season's key pieces. Fall has almost hit us and soon there's going to be more than just a little nip in the air. During this time, the stores get all flooded with soft knits, cozy jackets and what not and while I love talking about womenswear, I thought it would be fun to include the gentlemen of our lives as well! I can't say for everyone but the men of my house love to shop during Fall. While in Summer, they get to wear the basic shirt or t-shirt, Fall brings a whole platter of variety for them to experiment with. There are cardigans, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, leather jackets, pullovers, caps, scarves and the list goes on!

When we were given a chance to review the new menswear collection at the French Connection store, we readily accepted. We are already loyal customers of the brand and when one of your favorite brands asks you to come over, have a look at the collection and share your thoughts on the same, how can you not accept!

It was so easy to get distracted by the womenswear collection they had but I was determined about not ignoring the menswear section this time around and giving them the attention that they deserve. Have a look at the collection, the pictures speak louder than words:

Aman could hardly contain his happy after-shopping-smile! The new collection has knits, cardigans, chino pants, etc in myriad of colors. The knit material used for the cardigans and pullover are really soft, cozy and durable. The textures and color blocking are the highlights of the collection and the cozy shirts in tartan check print were my favorite. If you happen to be around French Connection store, drop by to have a look at the collection, I am sure you will not be disappointed if you are looking for smart casuals.

The embellished tees, the Polo tees, color blocking, prints, you name it and French Connection has it! Spring Summer'14 collection in French Connection is a myriad of prints and embellishments that is sure to win anyone over. I was personally sold on those big F embellished t-shirts. The moment you enter the store, there is a fresh breezy feeling that reminds you of Summer. Maybe it's the color palette of the new collection or the unbeatable prints, can't really put my finger on it but nonetheless, it's a lovely collection.

The color blocked maxi had me at first sight. It fitted perfectly and the vertical stripes gave an illusion of long never ending legs (and who are we kidding, every girl wants that!). Styled with monochrome floral scarf and clutch, it made for a perfect outfit for a day out shopping with your girlfriends or a romantic subtle first date. The second favorite for me has to be the grey embellished "F" t-shirt. The colors looked so vibrant and summery and the t-shirt is itself so easy to style! It would be a life-saver on those lazy days when you just don't wanna put any thought into your outfit, just pair up the t-shirt with a short skirt, a maxi, or some printed pants and you are good to go! Definitely a winner piece in my opinion.

What is your favorite piece from the whole collection? Do let me know in the comments below!

French Connection SS13 Collection Review

Visiting FCUK store at Select Citywalk was a mixed experience for us. You will get to know why by the end of this post.

The new collection at the store was a myriad of prints and colors. An array of prints, stripes, floral, abstract, tropical, fusion, all caught us by surprise. There was so much to play with! The prints were all calling out to us and hence we decided to take on the hot trend of Mixing Prints and create a couple of outfits that would be unique yet wearable in the daily life.

These pants were one of the loudest pieces in the store and while they are one sweet find, styling them could be a little tricky especially if you are taking on the trend of mixing prints. I paired these abstract yet slightly tribal printed pants with a subtle floral print top. The print on the top has pastel colors and does have a slight abstract feel to it. Hence, it goes perfectly with the pants complimenting and toning down it's loud colors at the same time. It's a perfect outfit for a lunch date with your girlfriends, it's comfortable, easy and yet very chic.

Okay, it's no secret that I am a big fan of stripes. In my last 10 posts, I am probably wearing stripes in 5 of them, maybe more. So, when I spotted this pretty dress with stripes all over it, I immediately wanted to use it for an outfit. And we have all heard about pairing stripes with block colors or floral prints but I wanted an stripe overdose and hence, I paired the dress with a very summery jute bag with blue stripes. To finish off, I added the tan belt to define my waist and break the monotony of too many stripes. This outfit would be perfect for a picnic or a barbecue party or a mall visit.

There was so much good stuff in the store and I wanted to style more outfits but we left due to the very unfriendly behavior of the manager and staffs at the store. That did sour the whole experience but I won't lie, the collection was amazing. Do visit the FCUK stores (I would suggest the DLF Promenade and Ambience stores, it has the most helpful staff) and check out the collection, it would be worth it I promise :)
