Sweater Weather

If you think of our lives as a movie, the ongoing scene would have our heads tucked in high collars/scarves, hands fidgeting in pockets, sipping hot drinks, trees sleeping, leaves falling, wind blowing on crispy mornings and us starring in all these scenes, almost always in SWEATERS!

While the blazers and coats will keep making appearances, the chunky knits will always be running the show. Oversized, cable-knits, metallic, roll-necks, one of these kinds are sure to be found in every single girl's closet! While the easiest way to wear this comfortable piece is with your distressed denims and sneakers, you could always style them with a bit of twist and make a statement.

I wore this mustard knit sweater recently to brunch with friends. Pairing it with with my favourite blue denims was my first choice due to a lazy cold morning but I switched to wearing a skirt later. The outfit shouts chill on the top and sexy on the bottom. I opted for color blocking and adding some interest with prints and textures of shades of base colors namely beige and black. The sweater is a recent purchase but I have practically been living in it, it's comfortable, soft, warm and cozy. And not to mention, the color is pure love!

Do tell me how you are wearing your knits!

I have recently been duelling with the idea of everyone possessing a dual personality. One they wear as a mask in social settings and the other that resides behind that mask. And the sad part is, it is inevitable in the world we live in where buying shoes matter more than donating money for the needy. We look the other way when a beggar knocks on our car windows on a traffic signal. But spend hours in front of the idiot box called a TV staring at the materialistic actors who portray fake emotions for our entertainment. We create a fake social world inside our smartphones when a true friend is sitting right beside you wanting to talk in real time, face to face. Every year, as December begins, I start reflecting on the year that passed by us, slipped through our fingers in a blur. What good did we do in this one year, how closer are we to our goal, and how many true friends were made who do not only talk through texts but spend real quality time with you, beside you.

It's about time I made some real changes in my life for a better tomorrow. Call it new year resolutions or whatever you may like, but these changes are necessary. I want to live life more fully, not worrying about petty things, being happy and satisfied with what I have and being thankful for the amazing people in my life. I would earnestly suggest you all take a minute to think back on how you spent last year, what all you could have done to make it better and what are you gonna do about it now. Live a real life, don't be fake or pretentious, give love and support to your friends and family, say what you feel and do whatever you want to do passionately. No regrets!

Fall Fashion and Hats

IMG_3624 IMG_3630 IMG_3619 IMG_3649 IMG_3651 IMG_3654 IMG_3660
{Denims/Jacket/Rings - Forever 21, Crop Top - H&M, Hat - Zara, Shoes - Aldo, Bag - StalkBuyLove, Watch - Michael Kors, Sunglasses - The Black Box}

Can we just hurray in excitement for a whole minute! My most beloved season is here in full form and I couldn't be more excited. Fall season is my favourite not only because it is the perfect temperature, neither too hot nor too cold, but also because it brings along limitless possibilities of layering, accessorising and styling. Although I am aware that Winter will surpass this temperature in a matter of weeks or probably even days but I am going to be making the most of this time however little of it I am allowed.

This outfit is my first tribute to this season, where I have incorporated the core trends for fall. Plaid is having a moment on the runways and I brought it down to the streets with this light woolen cape jacket. It was a gem found buried deep in the treasure hunt we all go through as we step into Forever 21. The denims and the bag are the results of a little DIY makeover project that we did on a whim while chilling on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We always find ourselves pointing out the little changes that could have made a garment or an accessory much more stylish and one day we had enough of the could haves and should haves and we took the matter in our hands. Or should I say, took the scissors in our hands! We snipped away the arm handles of the bag first which made it more street chic and then moved onto making those slits in the denims. It was hard not to go overboard as I kept insisting for a few more slashes but then felt this was just the right amount of skin peeking through.

With high waist denims, the most obvious choice is a crop top and that's what I went for. Yes, the nip in the air is more prominent but we don't have to let go of our crop tops just yet! With the right amount of layering, crop tops can easily work their way into our Fall wardrobes. Why don't you all show me your way of wearing crop tops in this weather! Share your styled outfits with me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Snapchat...I would love to see what you guys come up with! There is a stylist hidden in each one of you, dig deep and explore the possibilities!

Street Style: Maxi Dress

IMG_1501 copy copy IMG_1510 copy IMG_1511 copy IMG_1531 copy copy IMG_1526 copy
{Maxi Dress - Zara, Bag - Michael Kors, Scarf - Love Moschino, Sunglasses - Paperlilie, Earring/Cuff/Ring - H&M, Shoes - Marks & Spencer}

I was just wondering that the colleges are going to be re-opening soon enough and these street style outfits would be perfect for your first day of college, or even second day or hey, rest of the week too! While styling these street style outfits, I always keep in mind that I am choosing these outfits for the streets of India and not New York. They have to be conservative as well as daring enough for the Indian streets coz hey, you can't really wear short shorts paired with crop tops and roam around in the streets without being ogled upon. If you can, all the more power to you, but I prefer to stay stylish AND safe. I mean, wear what you want, but know what to wear where. You can wear a super short dress to your best friend's bash without giving it a second thought but the same outfit out in the streets might just get you in trouble.

Anyways, the street rules somewhat applies in college too. You can't wear shorts in college but a crop top baring just a sliver of skin is a-okay! So basically, these street style outfits can double up as inspirations for your college outfits too. The mantra is easy chic.

This maxi is my personal favourite, black and white you see. You can add as much color you want to style this outfit. I styled it in a very easy and understated way by adding a hit of peach lipshade, some colourful earrings from H&M and a colourful scarf tied on my sling bag. That's all the color this outfit needs. I kept my cuff and ring in the same tone and also I kept my shoes white and in block heels so that it's easier to walk around while still looking chic.

Fuschia and Orange + Closeup DA Instasmile!

{T-shirt/Necklace - Forever 21, Shorts - H&M, Blazer - Choies, Bag - c/o Etre, Sandals - Mango}

It's been a month since I posted an outfit on the blog. My life was upside down and I hardly had time or energy to switch on my laptop and write something/anything. Though the month was stressful and hectic, I am happy as it was all for the best. I got a new job and in a field that I wanted and I got a new place to live which I love! It's like my own little den and most of my time these days goes into decorating this little place of mine. It will take another month or so to finish the decor but I am very excited. I remember the happiness and satisfaction I got when I finished decorating my last place after 3 months of moving in. There's nothing like it! And yes, the new job! I am working now as a fashion stylist for Pernia's Pop Up Shop! The office is great and the people there are super nice and sweet. It's been a little over two weeks since I joined and over 3 weeks since I moved in. I am quite settled down now and much more at ease. I plan to devote more time to blogging now and also, I am planning something new which many of you guys have been requesting for. Guess guess? It should be ready to be introduced by the beginning of next month and I cannot wait to tell you all about it!

On another note, how amazing is the weather these days! It's raining (which I usually hate!) and feels like Summer is gonna bid goodbye soon and Fall is my favourite!! Ah! Can't waittttt!!! And hey, did I tell you guys, I started driving! If you follow me on Instagram, you know I had been taking driving lessons from Aman. And now I have got my Learning Licence and I drive to my office everyday myself, all alone! I feel so proud, may sound a little silly as the whole world drives but trust me guys, I could never drive anything. Literally, not even roller skates or bicycle :|

P.S. - The Closeup Video that I worked on last month is out now! And I am also in the advertisement of Closeup Diamond Attraction in Filmfare and Femina(September Issue)! Super exciting!

You can read all about this collaboration and get a chance to win a feature shoot with Femina magazine HERE! Be the fabulous self you are and don't ever shy away from coming into the limelight...Good luck!

Blush Blazer

{Blazer/Shorts/Shoes/Earring/Rings - Forever 21, Top - Zara, Cuff/Sunglasses - H&M, Bag - c/o Etre}

This blazer had been hanging in my closet brand-spanking-new for more than 4 months. One day while arranging my closet, I realized it still had the price tag on it and then and there I decided, my next outfit was going to be styled around this beautiful blush blazer.

Blazers are staple pieces in a girl's wardrobe. You can never have enough. I own nine of them and I am still always on the lookout for more. You need to start building your collection from the basics. Once you have the perfect tailored fit black blazer, the next one you should get is a nude or blush color which is very versatile and goes with many outfits. Once you have these two, you can venture out for more variety like patterned ones, a bold bright blue blazer, or a fuschia georgette blazer, etc. But then again, who am I to tell you where to begin, if you feel like you can pull off a fuschia blazer on the first go, by all means, go ahead and let the bright hued blazer be your first ever. The idea is to own the final look and let your personality reflect through your outfit.

For me, I like to begin with basics. My first blazer was a tailored fit black Zara blazer(Click HERE) which still fits perfectly and to be honest, it was the most expensive one too. I knew it was an investment as a black blazer is a wardrobe staple. I have worn it countless number of times now, and it is still in prime condition. Money well spent.

You can style your blazers with practically anything! No, really! You can wear them with maxi dresses, maxi skirts, trousers, denims, shorts, skirts, heck, just throw it over any outfit and they can instantly make your outfit look so much better! I styled this blazer keeping the warm weather in mind. I kept it very simple with a white top and high waist shorts and kept the accessories to the minimum too. I felt a necklace would totally distract the attention from the outfit as a whole. I wanted it to be a clean and chic look. The white earring doesn't disturb the tone of the outfit and the clutch adds an interesting element. All in all, I like how it came out. What do you guys think?

xoxo,
Stay Chic!

Designer Diggs: Elitista by Jyotsna Kapoor

{Jacket - Elitista by Jyotsna Kapoor, Spaghetti top/Shoes/Rings/Earrings - Forever 21, Skirt - Koovs, Bag - H&M, Belt - Promod}

As the Monsoon is upon us, there is a nip in the air and the wind is suddenly cooler at night. At times like these, I like to carry a light jacket to drape over my shoulders when the sun bids goodbye. This jacket from Elitista by Jyotsna Kapoor has been my recent favorite and I have been pairing it with so many outfits, it's not even funny! The beautiful golden work in the front and the draped lines at the back, and the finishing, all these features have me drooling over this beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

I wanted to keep the jacket as the focus of the look so I paired it with an all black outfit and red pout (Click HERE for the Red Pout makeup breakdown). The spaghetti top and the skirt formed a faux bodycon dress and to make sure that my waist did not vanish in all that black, I added a tan belt to emphasize on the waist area. The shoes were bold and edgy to go with the feel of the jacket. The jacket gives out a strong vibe, you need to be confident enough to pull it off. And the shoes complements the jacket and the red pout adds to the whole theme. This outfit is very strong and statement making, and I felt very confident and good about myself in general that day. I think it's the silhouette of the outfit, it flatters the body in the best way possible.

This jacket was initially a part of an Anarkali I wore to my friend's Sangeet ceremony. The fit and the finish of the whole attire was exemplary! I have never been so impressed with a relatively new designer's work. Jyotsna Kapoor might be new to this industry but she knows what she is doing when it comes to custom fitting the garments and giving the best finishing. You can turn the whole attire inside out and there won't be one single seam out in the open, it's almost like you can wear it inside out and nobody will really notice!

About the designer:
Jyotsna Kapoor launched her label Elitista almost one year ago. Strongly focused on providing the best Indianwear designs at the most affordable prices along with the best fit and finish, she drove herself with passion for creating. She has come a long way in a short span of time and all the credit goes to her hard work and creative designs. Her USP, the draped sarees along with fully gold work backless blouses (same work as you see in my jacket) are most hot-selling products today. Her anarkali suits are also highly in demand because of the quality, fit and finish. There are very few designers in the industry who focus on these details, most I have seen compromise on the quality of the fabric and never gives perfect finishing. But I was very very impressed with Jyotsna Kapoor, the quality of fabric she used, the fit of the dress and the finishings, the customer service was impeccable too. Couldn't have been happier with my purchase!

You can check out more from her collection on her Facebook Page: Elitista by Jyotsna Kapoor

The Shift Dress

{Dress - Femella, Necklace - A jewellery shop from my hometown, Shoes/Midi Rings/Ear cuffs - Forever 21, Clutch - Kunst, Cuffs - H&M}

A Shift dress is one of the wardrobe essentials as it flatters almost all body types and is suitable for many occasions if styled correctly. It came into the world of fashion in late 1950s and since then has been shifting its way through every era and it still holds it's ground when so many trends and styles have come and gone! Recently, I have grown an affection towards them as they are easy on the comfort level and high on style scale. This shift dress is my favorite of the lot that I have acquired recently. It's soft pale pink color looks very chic and sophisticated and the shoulder cut flatters my shoulders in the best way possible. This shift dress from Femella features a racerback and a layered look which adds more design elements to a simple dress.

I decided to style the dress in a more sophisticated way than I would any other shift dress as the color of the dress spells sophistication. Pairing it with a kundan necklace and a gold cuff, I kept the accessorization minimalistic yet bold. These two pieces of jewelleries were more than enough to complete the look. The shoes were a classy pair of suede heels and the hair was also done in an updo to maintain the classic and elegant look I was going for. This dress can be styled in so many different ways, the possibilities are endless. I can already imagine myself styling it in at least four more different ways, maybe one can be with sneakers for a super casual/relaxed look!

About the Brand:

Designer Diggs | Grecian Maxi by Supriya Gupta

{Maxi Dress - Supriya Gupta, Cuff - H&M, Shoes/Midi Rings - Forever 21, Sunglasses - Paperlillie}

Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the brightest of them all!

In Summers, the few keywords almost every fashionista swears by are Maxi dresses, whites, brights and golds. Now, you can imagine my delight over this particular maxi dress. It's a summer dream come true! Packed with a beautiful gold neckline, punch of fuschia and beautiful Grecian drapes makes this attire just as perfect for a cocktail night as it would a romantic dinner date. The attention to details like the little quilled circular touch to the waist belt or the draped hem making up for the absence of slits while adding a graceful design element vouches for the viability of the dress.

I chose to keep the maxi as the focus of the whole attire and kept accessories to the minimum by adding a gold cuff and few midi rings. The shoes had to be nude as I didn't wanted any other color fighting for attention in this look. And the sunglasses had gold accents because why the hell not! This outfit is probably my personal favorite so far, it's glamorous, it's bright and it will for sure turn heads. As they say, 'Go bright or go home!'. This maxi is truly a prized possession and for the price, it's a steal! The collection comes out soon, so make sure you grab one before they sell out.

About the designer:
Supriya Gupta launched her label out of her passion for Indian wear, Sarees in particular. Her ability to conform to the requirements of her clients is what makes her stand out from the crowd. Unique designs, new concepts, skilled craftsmanship and her ability to deliver the most fresh color combinations ever won us over. If you are impressed by this maxi (which is a piece from her new collection),wait till you see her impeccable sarees. She has something to offer to everyone, be it a high school girl preparing for her farewell, a friend attending her best friend's wedding or a new age woman going for her kitty party! And not just that, she has ventured into a whole new level of creativity with fishtail sarees, velvet and crochet sarees, french knot embroidery and what not! Her desire to strive for perfection reflects in her work, from the fabric she uses to the embroidery and embellishment quality. Click HERE for a small glimpse of her saree collection. Striped Maxi Skirt

{Maxi/T-shirt/Midi Rings - Forever 21, Waistcoat - Zara, Necklace - Koovs, Bracelet - Aldo, Clutch/Knuckle Ring - H&M, Shoes - Steve Madden}

You might notice in this and the previous post that my hair color is gone. Well, it's not. These are just few photoshoots we did long before I got my hair colored but didn't find time to post them. This was actually one of the looks featured in Cosmopolitan's March Issue. My obsession with maxi was at it's peak then and I was busy collecting all colors, prints and fabric I could. And I am glad that I did so because now that the temperature is hitting 44 degrees, I can be all comfortable in my flowy georgette maxis. Just need to tone the tummy a bit more so the crop tops can find a way into my wardrobe!

Make your ripped denims look classy & chic!

{ Ripped Denims - DIY, Sweatshirt/Rings - Forever 21, Necklace - Zara, Shoes - Asos.com, Clutch - Fashionatclick.com, Cuff - H&M}

I have always loved my ripped denims and shorts. There is something about these ragged old pieces that appeals to the child in me and the stylist in me always wants to style these with their contrast counterparts. Giving a torn/ripped denims a chic twist is a challenge in itself. And whenever I come even close to this word, the Barney Stinson in me makes a lil noise in my head saying "Challenge Accepted!".

I paired the denims with a printed sweatshirt from Forever 21, I usually am not a fan of sweatshirts (Neither am I big on sweatpants, but that's besides the point!) but this print really caught my eye. With a classic color combination and the print, it looked like a work of art. I knew it on the first sight that I will be pairing it up with some pearls and ripped denims. I have worn this sweatshirt with a maxi skirt, shorts, pegged trousers, bodycon dress and what not! And it has always taken the outfit a notch up, I love this darn piece of heaven!

The LBD

{Dress - c/o MICHELLE SALINS,Clutch/Cuff - H&M, Earrings/Rings - Forever 21, Shoes - Zara}

The fashion world might say that white dress is the new LBD or sometimes the red dress is the new LBD but the truth remains and so does the original Little Black Dress aka LBD. Every girl has one, every girl wants one and every girl NEEDS one!

This pretty LBD with a very unique silhouette from MICHELLE SALINS absolutely won me over. It's made out of jersey material and hugs the body like a glove and slims you down. I needed something like this to camouflage the holiday weight we talked about a while ago (tsk! tsk!). I styled this dress for the fashion week and hence kept it on the casual side. Loose tresses, chunky jewellery(not a lot of it though) and statement shoes does the trick and the outfit becomes casual yet chic. The splash of blue in this otherwise monochrome outfit is my favourite part. If I would have to style it for an evening event, I would definitely wear my hair up and put on some major OTT lipstick! Eitherways, this dress is on my favourites list and it's going to be there for a long while, I know it!

Always wear your invisible crown!

{T-shirt/Necklace - Forever 21, Skirt - Zara, Blazer - choies.com, Clutch - Kunst, Sunglasses - H&M, Shoes - U.S.}

Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong. Every morning while I dress up, I remind myself of the same. I might go too far in my pursuit of not-being-boring but luckily that thought doesn't really scare me.

The highlight of this outfit, the hot pink Georgette blazer is one such piece that you might go overboard with easily and it is currently my favorite cover-up for the season. Now, I am not the kind of girl who owns a lot of pink items. In fact, when my office asked us to wear something pink on Women's Day, I first thought I did not have anything in pink! But standing in front of my closet, I could spot a couple of pieces proving me wrong. This blazer in particular was the loudest! The thing I love the most about it is that inspite of being such a loud color, it looks very chic. And when paired with the right pieces, it looks beyond amazing!

Summers are here and I am looking forward to wearing bright colors, especially my skirts! What are you guys most excited about this season?

With unexpected rainfalls and slight chill in the evening air, Fall is fast approaching. I am really getting into sweatshirts for this season. I haven't ever worn sweatshirts before but now I am exploring the idea of pairing casual sweatshirts with interesting bottoms. This sweatshirt is itself very interesting with sheer panels and leather cutwork details and paired with the high waisted pleated denims, it looks very Milan chic. I say this coz I had shot a lady in Milan for my street fashion section last year and this outfit is kinda inspired from her. Check out that post HERE, it's the lady in the third picture.

This "Transitioning into Fall" series which begins from today is sort of going to keep record of how slowly and subtly my Summer outfits start to transition into Fall outfits. It begins with slight change in the color palette, hem lengths and sleeve lengths till there's a knitwear pullover involved.

This beautiful maxi dress from Persunmall.com looks gorgeous on it's own but it's being sleeveless does not bode well with the weather. It's been raining on and off lately, much better than the past few weeks though when the downpour just wouldn't stop. The weather is slightly humid and sometimes chilly and adding a light blazer provides some protection. The gorgeous color of the dress goes with the trend and along with black, it creates a very Fall inspired look, but since we are not yet there, a neon clutch was in order. The outfit is easy, breezy and simple yet quite impactful due to the blazer and it's prominent structured shoulders.

I have been putting my hair up a lot lately as it's very humid and the use of hair dryer and straightening iron does not give long lasting results. My hair has always been frizzy and difficult to handle but when treated with care, it can look good. Sometimes, I will blast my hair with an ionic protection hairdryer but I am trying to keep my distance with the iron. You should try it too if your hair is difficult to manage. Just put it up in a messy bun or any kind of updo and just be done with it. No need to bother about the hair all day, no need to brush, comb and fix it again and again...Will save you lots of powder room visits, I promise!

I am in love with maxi dresses. Not just a passing love, it's deep, passionate, irrevocable love. I always thought maxi skirts and dresses won't suit my body type but recently I tried a maxi skirt on and there's no looking back since then! I have stocked up on almost 9-10 pieces already and I am craving for more!

This beautiful bright yellow maxi skirt and the gorgeous chandelier necklace are from a website called Choies.com and I am really liking the quality of their products. The shipping was really quick too and absolutely no customs paid. Definitely worth checking out!

I kept this look fresh, simple and girlish to keep the charm of the skirt. I was so tempted to throw on a bright neon lipstick, trust me! But I refrained myself from doing that as I didn't wanted to tamper with the clean, fresh look. The laced shoe wedges are super comfortable and I actually ended up wearing them for over 7 hours in the mall, during the shoot, walking around, shopping, etc. They add a little trendy feel to the whole outfit without making it too glam for the daytime.

A casual side fishtail braid finished up the look perfectly. Always wear your hair beautifully, it takes the whole outfit to a new level. "Dress from the head down" as Mark Hampton (Brand Ambassador and Stylist for Toni & Guy) would say!
