Bidding goodbye to my long tresses

{Crop Top/Necklace/Shoes/Hand Harness/Rings - Forever 21, Pants - Monsoon, Wrap Bracelet - Zara}

When I did this photoshoot, I never imagined that this might just be one of my last outfits with long hair! Even though I wanted to cut my hair short for a long time, I never had the courage to chop off my long tresses that took so much effort to become what they were. But I guess, I needed the push which I got this Diwali. Everybody has been asking me why I chopped off my hair, why did I get rid of my long tresses and here's the answer:
Because it caught fire.

Yes, that's the story. On Diwali night, after the customary prayers and all, we were clicking family pictures. I had my camera on the tripod and was setting timer so that I could also be in the picture and since not everyone were fitting in the frame, I kept moving back without realizing that there was a diya (Indian candle, sort of) right behind me. After a few seconds, I felt something hot on my back and at the same moment my brother who was standing near me noticed the fire. Thankfully, the damage was contained on time and it was limited to my hair. I went to the salon and got a good 10 inches chopped off even though the damage was up till 6-7 inches. I felt it was a perfect opportunity to try out the long bob that I wanted for last 5-6 months but just couldn't. So yeah, now I have like super short hair and sometimes I miss my long hair so much, I could cry but I do love the short look too. It's lighter and easier to style and looks cute. Here's how it looks now:

I am kinda happy that I finally got the haircut I had been craving for. And the timing couldn't be better with the Fall season approaching. I am super excited to style my hair this season! I have had my fair share of hair updos for now and now I am ready to experiment with short hair :D

How to do Indo-western flawlessly!

When you are running short of time during festive or wedding season, you don't necessarily need to pick up any outfit just for the sake of it. You can create an indo-western outfit which would look just as chic as any of those designer humdrums your cousins would be wearing. When all of a sudden, it was decided that we need to wear traditional outfits for our last day of the office before Diwali and I had all heavy anarkalis and sarees which I could not carry off during a hectic bridal shoot which was scheduled for the last day, this happened:

{Dress - Koovs, Leggings - Sakshi Grover, Necklace - Jewellery shop from my hometown, Shoes - Christian Louboutin}

I paired a midi length black dress with a peach colored leggings from an anarkali and topped it off with a heavy kundan necklace. The dress had a beautiful silhouette with high neck and quarter sleeves on the bodice and a draped skirt both attached on the waist leaving a tasteful gap which showed some skin and saved the look from being too stuffy. I maintained the chic look of the whole ensemble by going with straight hair and I think it all turned out quite nice, what do you think?

If you decide to try this out, keep a few pointers in mind:
- Choose a dress with an appropriate length which can pass for a kurta
- No prints unless it's paisley or some other Indian motif
- Choose subtle colors like nudes, peaches, black, creams, etc which are mostly used in Indianwear
- If you want to go for colors, go for jewel tones like emerald, rich purple, etc.
- Accessorize with Indian jewellery and don't be afraid to pile them on, just don't go too much overboard.

If you try this technique, do share a picture on Twitter or Instagram tagging me!

xoxo,
Stay Chic!

Toni & Guy "Hair Meet Wardrobe" Launch Event & my Outfit for the night

The last few days passed by in a blur...Some moments distinctly etched in my brain, few are vague. The one thing I am most certain of is that the Toni & Guy event was beyond amazing! I have never seen a promotion on this big scale and an event where you truly enjoy and not just hold wine in one hand and make some awkward small talks and shake hands. It was a night of warm hugs, meeting wonderful people, celebrating, and enjoying to our heart's content! Now, let me clarify this in the beginning only, the event was much more fun for us and here's why: It happened in Mumbai!

A few weeks ago when we received a personalized invitation to the Toni & Guy Launch event in Mumbai, we took it as one of those misguided and less informed PR's mails, who are not aware that we reside in Delhi. That happens a lot! We humbly RSVP'd in negative only to receive another email which stated that the PR company and their client Toni & Guy will be hosting us for the event. And from that moment till now, this PR company has surprised and pleased us at every turn.

We were flown out to Mumbai and made to stay at a five star hotel, Taj Land's End. From booking a cab to and fro, to providing all sorts of luxury and comfort during our stay, the brand and the PRs have left a very impressive image on us. What added a cherry on the cake was when we got to know that we were the only bloggers they had hosted from Delhi! That is kinda big deal for us and we are really thankful for even getting considered the best among so many amazing bloggers from Delhi! Now, all that being said, let's talk about the event itself...

The most celebrated British Hair Brand TONI & GUY HairMeetWardrobe finally launched in India and how! The event happened in Mumbai in Taj Land's End Hotel in the most fashionable way possible.

The Brand Ambassador of Toni & Guy, who is probably the youngest brand ambassador of all times (and dare I say, super funny and cute as hell!), Mark Hampton is one of the hottest names to emerge into the session styling limelight in years. Vogue Italia, Harpers Bazaar, POP, plus a host of designers from Vivienne Westwood Red Label to Todd Lynn have tapped into his unique creative vision for their editorial pages and global catwalk shows. Edgy, cool and always three steps ahead of the rest of the style crowd, his rapid ascent up the rungs of fashion is down to his ability to carve out looks that combine an urban street vibe with a couture finish, taking designer inspirations firmly in hand and perfectly matching hair with wardrobe. Mark lives the TONI & GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe philosophy of Dressing from the Head Down and he intrinsically knows what will work to make a complete look.

The Official Fashion Stylist for the brand was none other than Manish Arora. No introduction needed here! [ And in case, you have been living under a rock and you DO need an introduction of this most celebrated and famous Indian Designer then here: He is the most celebrated and famous Indian Designer! And oh yes, he has worked with Paco Rabanne and has done several shows in Paris and is my favourite!]

Toni&Guy HairMeetWardrobe India Launch Anusha Dandekar Soha Ali Khan Malaika Arora Khan

Three Indian fashionistas – the glamorous Malaika Arora Khan, classic beauty Soha Ali Khan and casual yet chic Anusha Dandekar walked the red carpet in three timeless looks curated by Mark Hampton. Each of these divas embodied the theme of a chic TONI & GUY HairMeetWardrobe range, namely - Glamour, Classic and Casual.

Anusha sported a casual top knot (which you all know is my favorite go-to hairdo!), Soha wore elegant side-swept waves and Malaika looked dazzling with her glam playful curls! These girls were full of energy at the event and combined with witty Mark Hapton and sweet Manish Arora, kept the crowd giggling and clapping all the time!!

The host of the event, Shibani Dandekar, was a delight for the sore eyes and looked so sexy that she "almost" stole the show from these three celebs! Kudos to her makeup and hair stylist as well the drop-dead gorgeous Manish Arora S/S'10 dress she flaunted!

Themed on the concept of ‘HairMeetWardrobe,’ and the three timeless looks – Casual, Classic and Glamour - ace choreographer Shiamak Davar, beautifully brought to life the brand’s philosophy through a themed musical performance. At the musical, Anusha, Soha and Malaika performed as showstoppers for their respective themes.

The dance troupe of Shiamak Davar did an astounding job and we were mesmerized during the whole performance. The musical performance was titled "Life of a Fashionista" and it portrayed the same brilliantly!

What followed after all the partying was dinner and dessert...well, we skipped the dinner for desserts and why wouldn't we when the dessert table look like this filled with all the delectable delicacies you can ever imagine! From Apple Crumble, Chocolate and Red Velvet cupcakes to Macaroons, Kiwi Tarts, Chocolate mousse and even candies and gummy bears, everything was amazing!

After a little pondering over which look I wanted to flaunt on the night out of Casual, Classic and Glamour... I chose Glamour as I love my curls, smoky eyes and a sexy body hugging dress. Always have, always will! It's kinda my fail-proof choice for night events...I wore my new Steve Madden Wedges so that I will be comfortable throughout the night and these babies didn't fail me all night...

Here's to one of the most memorable nights! Cheers!
